Heat and Smoke Haven: CWA Moruya

64 Queen St, Moruya

The CWA Moruya is more than familiar with regularly hosting people in its tea room and hiring out its hall for functions. Now that its building has been upgraded with solar panels, battery storage, airconditioning, HEPA filters, LED lighting, external shutters and a backup generator, the CWA Moruya is also equipped to be a heat and smoke haven for its members and their families. CWA members and their families should check for haven opening times by emailing moruyacwa@outlook.com.au

CWA tearooms
Main tearoom has capacity for 90
The hall has ample capacity for 90 people, and can be set out with tables and chairs, and even stretchers for those who may need to lie down.

As a haven, the building is protected from power outages (through its solar, battery and back generation systems), ember attack (due to its shutters), and Internet blackouts (thanks to its satellite wifi).

It has an accessible toilet in addition to separate male and female toilets; and a number of separate rooms if quiet space is needed. There are also plenty of things to keep people occupied, such as a Book Nook, craft supplies and fully equipped kitchen/s.

  • Accessible ramp
  • Accessible toilet
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Shutters and generator
  • Male and female toilets
  • CWA Book Nook
