What do we do about our increasing Transport emissions?

October 28, 2020

Did you know that in 2017 in Eurobodalla, 39.87% of our carbon emissions were due to Transport? This increased to 42% in 2018 (Source: Beyond Zero Emissions Snapshot 2019-2020 ).

So what do we do about this? We know that switching to electric transport could eliminate 6% of the whole of Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions. Plus we’d all enjoy cleaner and quieter communities. (Source: Electric Vehicle Council of Australia, 2020).

Even the NSW Minister has an electric car! “Best car I’ve ever driven. The running costs are virtually zero. It’s great value for money and it’s good fun to drive.” Matt Kean, NSW Energy and Environment Minister, Renew Economy Podcast

SHASA has held our first Electric Transport Group this week. We plan to meet on a monthly basis to progress activities to reduce our transport emissions and help make Eurobodalla a cleaner place to live, work and play. Please keep an eye on the Transport page where we will post the outcomes achieved. If you are interested in joining or have other ideas that could help, please contact us.
