Heat and Smoke Haven: Uniting Church Batemans Bay

 2 Catlin Ave, Batemans Bay

Check to see if it is open during an extreme weather event by contacting Melinda Hume-Cook, 0416 251 312, melindahc2@gmail.com

The haven is open to all members of the public during an extreme weather event.

The Uniting Church Batemans Bay has been fitted with airconditioning, a HEPA filter (air purifier), backup generator, solar panels and solar battery. When the Bureau of Meteorology declares severe or extreme heatwaves of more than 3 days’ duration, the haven will be open from 10am to 7pm, and can hold up to 80 people during the day. During an extreme weather event, the church will be open 24 hours a day for crisis evacuation, and can accommodate up to 80 people overnight. In both scenarios, flags will be displayed out the front when the haven is open for business.
