31 influential stakeholders representing business, workers, community, agriculture, and environment, as well as tens of thousands of people, have come together to ensure NSW Leads the Charge in the shift to clean, cheap energy. The NSW Government is currently creating the NSW Consumer Energy Strategy and Gas Substitution Roadmap. Now is our chance to influence what it will include. We need to work together to let Premier Minns and the NSW Government know we need leadership and support to: ⚡ Achieve a faster and fairer deployment of renewable energy projects. 🔋Support households to electrify appliances, install solar & batteries to slash energy bills. 🔧 Dramatically scale clean industry and manufacturing opportunities, creating high-quality and secure jobs across the regions. |
Across the state, thousands are feeling the effects of cost-of-living pressures. Gas prices on average are continuing to increase, and aging coal-fired power stations are becoming increasingly unreliable and costly to maintain. Gas is not only an expensive, polluting fossil fuel – did you know that a child living with gas cooking in their home faces a similar risk of asthma to a child living with household cigarette smoke? NSW deserves to be powered by clean, cheap energy. We have abundant natural resources such as solar and wind, and we have a skilled workforce. We need the NSW Government to demonstrate leadership and invest in getting more solar, wind and battery projects online to power our homes. If we combine large-scale clean energy projects with household electrification, we can reduce our energy bills, slash emissions and create thousands of local, sustainable jobs. But we need leadership and support from the NSW Government to make this happen. We recognise that communities face significant hurdles when wanting to electrify: upfront costs of appliances, living in rentals, social housing, and apartments, and lack of clarity on how to access and install electric appliances. Workers who want to move into the clean energy industry need clear pathways, training and support to do so. We need your help to make sure this message reaches those in power. Write to your local MP and Chris Minns today. Let’s work together to make sure NSW Leads the Charge to be powered by clean, cheap energy.
