Seeing more electric vehicles in the Eurobodalla?

September 22, 2022

SHASA purchased a NISSAN LEAF EV in November 2020. Since then nine SHASA members have purchased electric vehicles after test driving the SHASA EV.

While there have been long delays with the purchase of new electric vehicles, but the last month has seen a turn around with a number of shipments of electric vehicles arriving in Australia.

Buying an electric vehicle will save you over 70% on running costs and has 50% less maintenance costs. If you charge off your solar system the savings are even higher. Forget having to worry about fluctuations in the price of petrol or diesel.’ It’s also one of the best ways to reduce your carbon emissions with transport being responsible for about 25% of emissions in the Eurobodalla. The NSW Government is investing $600m in an electric vehicle package. This includes waiving stamp duty for cars with a purchase price of $78,000 or less and a $3000 rebate for the first 25,000 EVs sold in the state from 1 September 2021.

They are providing $110m in financial assistance for businesses and councils to upgrade their fleets to electric vehicles and will be installing EV fast charges every 100km on major highways including the Kings and Princes highways.

SHASA is running an EV Expo – Electrify Everything Expo on Saturday 1 October, 10am – 2pm at Corrigans Beach, Batehaven to provide an opportunity, in one place to talk to sellers of electric vehicles, local drivers of electric vehicles, test drive an electric vehicle and so much more.
